Who is on your team?
If you are serious about your sport, I guess you will have spent many hours dreaming about the moment when you celebrate reaching the pinnacle of your sport. What will that be like, imagine all the hard work coming together in one moment… awesome!!
So what is it that makes the difference between the very best and the rest? Is it only about physical ability and technique? The amount of time many people spend working out and refining only these areas, you would be forgiven for thinking that was it… but there is a vital piece of the performance jigsaw missing. MENTAL SKILLS!! It is often the individuals who seem to have the strongest mental conditioning that succeed in the cauldron of intense competition.
Many athletes reach out for support with the mental side of their sport only when things go wrong and typically they will chat with their coach whose training in this area is likely to be limited and invariably they will have one area they are hot on but does not feed into the bigger picture of core mental skills an individual requires to be successful. I find for far too many people all the fun has gone out of playing their sport because they play out of habit or because someone else thinks they should… if you could bring the enjoyment back and learn how to win your mental battles, would you be interested?
Unfortunately I learnt all the tools and techniques to master the mental skills of sport far too late in my life to be as good as I thought I could have been. Fortunately, I am now extremely privileged to work with people from all sports to assist them to be the best they can be.
